The questionnaire was distributed to 185 students; 42 responses were collected and considered as valid responses (collection rate: 26.4%). No significant correlations were found between academic performance, scores of Internet addiction scale, and results of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. The average time spent on the Internet by purpose was 109 minutes for information gathering and 86 minutes for communication, such as for using instant messengers like LINE. A significant negative correlation was found in \ntime spent using the Internet for communication and academic performance. Academic performance and total time spent using the Internet per day were negatively correlated, while academic performance and time spent using the Internet for information gathering were positively correlated. The results suggest that appropriate Internet use may have a positive impact on academic performance.
