| 内容記述 | In recent years, the number of children with multiple disabilities and tracheostomies has been increasing. The main caregivers for children with tracheostomies are their parents, who shoulder a large burden because the children need considerable care, including throughout the night. This study aimed to clarify the situation related to nursing care for a child who has undergone a tracheostomy and the caregiver burden using the Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview. The responses to a questionnaire from 52 mothers of children with tracheostomies were examined. Their children had various care packages and social support. However, their parents felt they had a great burden, similar to parents of children with neurological disorders. When the factors related to the burden were examined using multiple regression analysis, the burden on caregivers was significantly lower if the children had a respiratory attachment. Feeding care and the frequency of using home visit nursing were signifi cantly associated with increased caregiver burden. These results suggest that the use of ventilators and care needs affect the burden of parents and that support for children with tracheostomies and their parents is insufficient. Further exploration with a larger sample is needed. The findings indicate a need to provide appropriate support based on an assessment of both the children’s health and the families’ needs. |
